Revisiting Tribal Migrations


This weekend I spent some time wrapping the work I have doing the previous weeks and fixing issues and crashes I have encountered along the way. 

I started testing tribal expansion again now with most decisions disabled to evaluate the simulation at the maximum speed possible, and it doesn't look as bad as a thought it was when performance was at its worst. Tribes are still growing very slowly, but thats something that I hope to address more carefully in the coming weeks. Although they are not supposed to grow very fast, their growth speed seems to be out of my control, which is something I don't like. 

I'm seeing a similar issue with overall migration speeds. Unorganized bands are taking a long time to migrate around continents, which is something that I have heard complains about from the community. I'm trying to figure out how I can make migration speed a separate parameter that can be tweaked out easily, as it's too cumbersome to fiddle with the multitude of parameters that currently affect migration.

Next week I'll continue with this work. Hopefully I'll be able to create a small gif or video showing the behavior of the new algorithm once I get good results.
