Territorial Chaos

My vacation trip is over. Through it, I managed to tone down the tribe splitting chaos quite a bit, although it still happens pretty often. Ironically though, the main reason the tribe splitting chaos occurs now is due to the effects of aggression and acculturation. After fiddling with the acculturation algorithm I got tribes to sort of "invade" one another. Here's an example of two tribes "fighting" each other over a territory.

No violence is actually taking place here though. It is mostly tribal groups moving on top of each other and "converting" cell populations from one tribe to another through acculturation. Aggression at this point only effects on how likely is one tribe to invade another's territory. One unfortunate effect of this behavior is that split tribes quickly become a rainbow spaghetti where multiple sibling tribes end up sharing the same territory given that there are no mechanics yet for a tribe to force others to abandon an occupied territory.

Next week I'll keep working a bit on tribal splitting since there's still some odd behaviors that need to be ironed out. But I'll also spend some time brainstorming how to make tribal invasions be less erratic. It'll probably involve adding a bunch of new decisions that make a tribe give up a territory to another...
